New resident Craig Fisher has revived Chess playing at The Fountains at Millbrook. If you enjoy a friendly competition and would like to set up a game or a lesson with him, attend the next Chess Club meeting!
Craig has been the leader and coordinator of the Vassar Chadwick Chess Club in Poughkeepsie since 1973, and additionally has promoted chess throughout the entire Hudson Valley region! Craig’s accomplishments include winning the Dutchess County Championship in 1995, a prestigious annual tournament where he has remained a force to be reckoned with. Heavily involved with teaching Chess to children for many years, it is his passion to see students progress from novices to elite players at surprisingly young ages. This Chess expert is known for his patience and kindness to all ages! There is an Indian proverb that Craig and other chess enthusiasts love, “Chess is a sea in which a gnat may drink or an elephant may bathe.”
